Organizations with on-premises systems may soon hear from their carrier with some bad news, if they haven’t been contacted already: POTS, which is short for plain old telephone service, is being eliminated.

A 2019 ruling by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allowed carriers to cease offering analog phone service over copper lines as of August 2022, and many have or soon will.

As a result, many carriers are pushing customers to convert on-premises systems that use a Primary Rate Interface (PRI) to one with a Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) service. Companies that want to keep their existing phone systems will pay a hefty premium.

Now, an alternative will allow organizations to keep their existing phone systems, with their PRI cards remaining in place, while enhancing their communications experience over a superior, redundant SIP network.

Save with SIPConnector

The Cloud9 SIPConnector allows organizations to keep their existing equipment and continue to benefit from the control, flexibility, and security of an on-premises system. The cost is minimal, and installation, which is provided by VOIP Networks, is simple and seamless.

Not only does SIPConnector extend the life of any existing telecommunication system (e.g., Mitel, Cisco, Avaya, etc.), but it also establishes the foundation for future communications needs. Whether an organization decides to stay on-premises or migrate to a Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) solution in part or whole, the infrastructure is already in place.

An Improved Communications Experience

SIPConnector connects hard-wired, on-premises systems to world-class, geo-redundant Tier III+ data centers through Network to Network Interface (NNI) connections to the following carriers:

  • Bandwidth
  • CenturyLink
  • Comcast
  • Inteliquent
  • Level(3)
  • Lumen
  • Verizon
  • . . . and more

Part of the Cloud9 Infrastructure offering, SIPConnector provides an improved communications experience. Customers receive white-glove service, backed by four decades of PBX expertise. Plus, VOIP Networks provides a single point of contact; all support is based in the U.S. and available 24/7/365.

When circuit issues arise, our technicians contact the carrier on your behalf, and we work directly with the Tier III engineering team, not the customer service department, for speedy resolution of technical issues.

In addition, SIPConnector enables organizations with on-premises systems to enjoy the benefits of cloud-based communications, including unlimited outbound calling anywhere in the contiguous 48 states, SD-WAN services, as well as full redundancy and flexibility if the on-premises system becomes unavailable.

VOIP Networks designs, installs, and supports UCaaS telecommunications technology for organizations of all types. We can also help clients mitigate supply chain issues. For more information, or to discuss your communications needs, please contact us.
