When Mitel announced the end of life (EOL) for MiVoice Call Recording (MiVCR) (formerly OAISYS), channel partners knew they needed to think about migrating their clients to another call recording solution. That time is now.

Per Mitel, “as of June 30, 2024, the Mitel Licensing Server will be disabled, which in turn ceases the ‘heartbeat’ required between the licensing server and the MiVCR application.” At this time, MiVCR will stop working.

Options for MiVCR Users

As a Mitel channel partner, you can either upgrade your MiVCR customers to the Mitel Interaction Recording (MIR) solution (Option 1) or deploy the heartbeat utility on your customers’ MiVCR systems (Option 2).

Option 1. Mitel is offering a promotion to upgrade from MiVCR to MIR. However, this promotion expires on June 30, 2024, which may not be enough time to fully implement the MIR solution.

Option 2. Mitel is offering another promotion, which also expires on June 30, to implement the “heartbeat utility.” Compatible with MiVCR software versions 9.1 Service Pack 4 (9.1.1432) and 9.2 Service Pack 7 (9.2.0652), the utility will simulate the Mitel MiVCR Licensing Server response, which will allow the MiVCR Voice Recorder to continue operating.

The Risks of Waiting

Choosing not to migrate or install the heartbeat utility could cause multiple, serious issues for your customers. Security risks increase once technology is no longer supported, and capabilities may no longer work or work correctly. That means systems may stop working, and clients in regulated industries risk falling out of compliance. For instance, crisis hotlines, financial institutions, medical facilities, courts, and public safety agencies—any organization that is required to retain call recordings—could find themselves non-compliant.
